Joseph Anthony Ferrigno, 71 of Perry Twp. passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at his residence.Mr. Ferrigno was born on October 16, 1947 in New Brighton to the late Joseph E. and Hilda M. (Bertagna) Ferrigno.He had graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1965. Joe served with the Pennsylvania Nation Guard out of New Brighton for six years.Following high school , Joe worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill as an inspector until the mill closed. He then worked as a sales manager for Kephart Trucking in Bigler, Pa for over 20 years along with various other trucking companies during his career.He ended his career at Beck Trucking Co. in Valencia, Pa where he worked as a dispatcher.Following retirement, Joe enjoyed helping his oldest son, Joe, with his business, J&S Motor Cars, in Negley, Ohio.In his free time he enjoyed reading, music, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 2018 season, and spending time with his family.He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 50 years, Jo Anne (Casuccio) Ferrigno whom he married on January 6, 1968, his sons, Joseph (Mary) Ferrigno Jr. of Beaver Falls and Tony (Beth) Ferrigno of Darlington, his grandchildren, Stephanie Ferrigno of Beaver Falls and Aiden Ferrigno of Darlington, his rescue dog, Coco Beanz Ferrigno, his sisters, Bert (Bob) Kelly of Wayne Twp. and Linda (Art) Smilek of Ellwood City, his sister-in-law, Toni Moser of Ellwood City, and his many nieces and nephews from all over the U.S..Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Anthony and Margaret Casuccio, and his sister-in-law, Stephanie “Stevie” Beachem.We choose to remember and celebrate the life and not the death of Joe. SHAPUTISBarbara B. ShaputisSubmitted Barbara B. "Barb" Shaputis, 67, of Shermans Dale died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018. She was born Friday, March 9, 1951, in Brookville, Pa., to the late Anthony R. and Virginia B. (Baughman) Bonarrigo. She was the widow of Steven John Shaputis, whom she married June 9, 1974, and who died March 3, 2001.Surviving are a daughter, Karen Shaputis Jones and her husband, Phillip, of New Bloomfield; a grandson, Hudson Shaputis; three siblings, JoAnn Colechio of Linden, Lenore "Lee" Knisely and her husband, Harold, of Mechanicsburg, Paul Bonarrigo and his wife, Paula, of Richmond, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews.She was a 1969 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, where she participated in marching and concert band as well as orchestra. In 1973 she graduated from Mansfield State College with a bachelor's degree in home ec. She was proprietress of Yesteryer Fibers in Shermans Dale since 1976, where she never retired and continued to sew until her last day. She was a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), a member of Historic Carlisle, Inc. and Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Perry County; and served as an active participant with Beaver Creek Muzzleloaders at Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers, annual 18th Century Artisan Fair in Lewisberry, Dill's Tavern in Dillsburg, Dixon's Gunmaker's Fair in Kempton, and the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle. Her passions included continuously adding to her extensive knowledge on the history of the French and Indian War. She also loved making and dressing re-enactors in period clothing, including her grandson, Hudson. Some of the historic figures she dressed were Ben Franklin and John Harris. She also enjoyed teaching classes on weaving, basket making, painting and spinning. She was a very talented woman who enjoyed sharing her creativity with others.
